With no things like drugs, crime, poker or stock trading. I am asking because my dad and I came to Canada 5 years ago. We had absolutely nothing here except some money to settle down and find work. My dad found a job installing floors. Even though he never done anything like that before. He started at 12$ per hour, now he is working with the same guy, except he is pretty much self employed now. Commodity trading is a battle between return and risk. Because of the leverage involved, you can achieve a higher rate of return than from most other forms of investment, but at a higher risk. You should keep in mind that past performance is not necessarily indicative of future performance. Commodity trading is just one step in solving the complex agriculture problems. Commodity trading is speculating on the future price movements of the basic raw materials on which global trade is based. The two most traded commodities are oil and coffee; however, all the other basic materials are also included in this market. Commodity trading is reaching an all-time high in popularity. Although many individuals are able to make a profit with futures trading, there are also those who end up losing money. Commodity trading is a big arena, just like the Stock Market.

Commodity trading is a risky venture and in order to produce profits takes some real education and a sound Trading System. Most commodity Traders seem to fight the markets in an attempt to gain profits quickly only to find the market to continue sideways or travel in the opposite direction.

Commodity trading is based on leverage, and the power of leverage is what makes people rich. Commodity trading is the one area of the financial markets where any person with tenacity, risk capital, and discipline can be highly successful. BUT there is also considerable risk of loss, particularly for the uneducated or misinformed.

Commodity trading is simply buying commodities (such as gold, or silver or platinum) as a tangible asset. When inflationary pressures are strong (and interest rates are low), these can give a better return on investments. Commodity trading is not inherently risky. It is only as risky as you want to make it according to the amount of leverage that you use. Commodity trading is a zero sum or cash business. Your trading account is settled at the end of each trading day with your trading account balance changing daily.

Obviously, unlike having money in a CD, this type of investment can lose as much or more than is gained. Another advantage of using commodities is that the commissions are much lower than with other Investing, such as in Mutual Funds. Obviously, if you run out of money you will be forced out of the market and will lose the lion’s share of your capital allocated for that trade. In an extreme situation, such as if wheat was linked to cancer in humans, then obviously if we were long wheat we would most likely get out and take the loss.

Futures trading is economically beneficial because it facilitates better production planning in the agriculture and agro-based industries. In these sectors it is also utilised as a hedging device against violent movement in the price of commodities over a period of time which, in the case of agricultural produce, stretches over crop seasons, often from sowing to harvesting time. Futures trading grew by leaps and bounds making the most of the bull-run witnessed globally. Fueled by the rally in equity markets, stock market players jumped into commodity markets to leverage on the all round boom.

Future trading includes widely traded commodities like coffee, oil, gold, sugar or financial instruments like Stock Market Indices, bonds, or currencies. Futures and options markets are risk management tools, helping to offset the exposure of contracting to supply a given amount of commodity ahead of harvest time. The commodity exchanges in practice seem to be less a way to spread risk, and more a way to concentrate profits for those who know the most about a market.

Futures contracts allow speculators the right to buy or sell a specified quantity of a commodity at a contracted price before an expiration date. Less than 3% of all futures contracts result in physical delivery of any commodity, the majority of all contracts are liquidated before expiration.

Do not try to trade commodities without a good foundation of commodity market knowledge. In getting started it is best to focus on just one or two commodities. That will be enough to keep you good and busy for a long while.

Where’s the best place for me to put my money?

I am starting to make some good money at a new job, I am 21, and have a son. I am either looking for a way to maybe trade Stocks and make some quick money to put away or find the best options for me to put money away so I will be able to have money for a house, his education, and engagement/wedding rings. Control your emotions

Emotions are a real threat for your profits. It does not matter you have all the resources, tools and experience at your disposal only to execute trades that have been taken on the swing of your emotions–great are the chances you won’t be profiting from those decisions. Whether or not you are under the influence of sneaky emotions should be one of the first questions you should be considering on the verge of a stock trade. Weigh the possible outcome risks, analyze the situation, observe the circumstances and I assure you that you will be rewarded in the long run.

Nearly 80% of those who attempt stock trading fail and quit because they can’t handle the stress and pressure involved in trading financial stocks, and make impetuous decisions which turn out into considerable losses. Don’t be one of those, take thoughtful decisions.

Weigh in the risks : don’t gamble away your hard earned money

You are a Stock Trader not a gambler. Gamblers don’t get return on their investments because, most of the time, they are underdog. As a professional stock trader, you don’t want to be an underdog ; you want to make profitable trades that yield monetary gains. It’s sort of tied with the first one “control your emotions” because, unprofitable trades generally occur when emotions are controlling you. My point is, in order to achieve success, you must be confident ; and being confident means that you are knowledgeable and you know what you’re doing. You won’t certainly win at each trades, but you will certainly learn at each trades. Don’t let a little loss turns you upside down. If you know your decision has been taken on a rational basis, then you should not be worried about it.

The bottom line is be consistent and gain experience and knowledge and confidence that will enable you to cross over from stock trading like a beginner to stock trading like professional.

Do not rush in prematurely and settle for the first online school you’ll find.  Because you will be Investing personal finances in a course, you deserve more than a mediocre education.  Look into the quality of education and the type of instruction which each school has to offer.  Study the kinds of stock trading courses which are included.  Inquire about flexible learning sessions which agree with your work schedule and about payment schemes which are most reasonable.   Go for an online school which will be effective for you and which can deliver on its promises.

Step Two: Get the Proper Instruction

Where can I take summer Finance courses?

I am a high school senior with an interest in finance.

Most public (and some private) universities will allow you to “audit” upper division classes without being officially accepted to the school. The Stern School of Business at NYU has one of the world’s most renowned finance departments, I would start there and then go to the smaller state schools and community colleges. Couple things to keep in mind:
1. You will have to pay fees on a per unit basis. I know at USC in Los Angeles, your looking at around $1000 a unit and the typical class is 4 units. If the fees are too much, start at a state school.
2. You need to go through the registration office, not the admissions office to sign up for the class.
3. Find out what class you want to take before going to registration. You can find a course catalog on every school’s website.

All in all, stock trading courses are supposed to provide you with the most important basics and ground rules on how to invest your money and improve your finances.  As an effective money-making scheme, stock trading is meant for increasing your profit while cutting down your losses as a buyer and investor.  Being an investor yourself, you can’t waste your money on a useless online course which misinforms, misleads, and literally scams you.  It you can’t go beyond the title of a Daily Stock Report and into the details of a stock chart, then your training has obviously been insufficient.  Early on, set your course straight!  In as much as you’re investing in yourself, you are definitely entitled to the best online course ever.

Is there a website that will show me options prices in a grid format?

I am interested in being able to look at a stock and seeing all the prices for a given strike price as part of my self education on options trading. I can use one of my current online brokers to get price info but can only get it one expiration month at a time. Is there a site that will show the last option prices in a grid format, i.e. the column headers are the expirations and the vertical axis is the strike price with the last trade price listed in each cell. I would expect I have to either choose Calls or Puts as doing both would be large and potentially confusing.

I don’t know anywhere you can get such a grid directly. What you can do is download the data using the facility at

http://www.cboe.com/DelayedQuote/QuoteTableDownload.aspx

Then a very simple program can reformat the data into the the gird you want, formatted for a spreadsheet program. (If you don’t have any programming skills, you can probably go to a local community college and ask an instructor to find a student who would write the program for extra credit and/or a few dollars.)

I will warn you that using the “last” option prices in your grid will probably provide a very distorted view. Many option are very thinly traded and the last trade may have been days, or even months, ago when the Stock Price was very different. If you want current data always use the “bid” and “ask” quotes instead of the “last” quote.
